The end is near -- Spring Break here we come!

The Alice in Wonderland fieldtrip is this coming Friday, March 26th. Make sure to bring your fieldtrip forms filled out before Thursday. I would also like to decorate tshirts for the event so bring in a shirt to decorate to wear for the fieldtrip.

Thoughts for the 4th nine weeks (the last nine weeks, I'll try not to cry).
Idea 1: Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Idea 2 : The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Idea 3: A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams
Idea 4: Make a suggestion
We will vote in class before we leave on Spring Break.

I would like to create a playlist for my birthday, so please send me your suggestions.

April is National Poetry Month and I have reserved the library for April 28th to hold Open Mic Day where everyone will read a poem of their choice.

Week of March 8th

Now that we have read through Chapter 8 of the Wizard of Oz here is the question you must answer:

What would you ask the Wizard for -- a brain, a heart or courage? You can not pick all three. You must pick one and explain why that is your choice. I will collect your responses by Thursday, March 18th or Friday, March 19th. Points will be based on the completeness of your answer and explanation.

Reminder that I will be collecting money for the Alice in Wonderland movie fieldtrip only until Friday, March 19th!!!! It is $15 and I need to know the final numbers so I can finalize the bus order as well as inform the movie theater of how many students will be attending so they can be prepared. The fieldtrip will be next Friday, March 26th (a 2,4,6 day).

Very important -- The nine weeks is coming to an end and it is your responsibility to make sure if you have any work to make up I must have an excused admit and you can only make up work from the last week. Anything that is two weeks or more overdue is too late.

Political Allegory in the Wizard of Oz

Read the following article written by Henry Littlefield titled "The Wizard of Oz: Parable on Populism." -- http://cdlee.files.wordpress.com/2007/11/littlefield-wizard-of-oz-parable-on-populism.pdf
If you have any issues with the link try copying and pasting it into the address bar.

You will turn into me 5 points that he makes about the Wizard of Oz and the connections to American history. This assignment is due to me by Friday, March 12.
